CHICAGO – August 19, 2008 – The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) announced the finalists of its InfoVision Awards program naming the technologies, applications, products, advances and services judged as the most unique and beneficial to the information and communications technologies (ICT) industry.
The finalists were selected by a panel of judges chosen from the Broadband World Forum Europe 2008 Technical Program Committee, consisting of industry experts from vendor companies, service providers and industry associations. The IEC will announce winners on Tuesday, 30 September at 12:00 at the World Forum.
"The interest surrounding the InfoVision Awards and the BBWF Europe conveys the importance of broadband innovations today. We are extremely proud to honor the individuals and companies committed to advancing the ICT industry, stated IEC President John Janowiak. We must also thank the judges for analyzing the hundreds of submissions received this year.
The 2008 InfoVision finalists include the following companies and products in their respective categories:
Category 1: Access Network Technologies and Services
Category 2: Network and Services Management and Operations
Category 3: Wireless Broadband
Category 4: Content, Entertainment, Applications, and Services
Category 5: Broadband Appliances, Devices, and Home Networking
Category 6: Enabling Silicon and Component-Level Technologies
Category 7: Core Network Innovation and Advances
Category 8: Metro Network Technologies and Services
Category 9: Go Green
Category 10: New Product Concepts
To protect the privacy of finalist companies in Category 10, product names will not be announced until the InfoVision Award ceremony at Broadband World Forum Europe 2008.
Products eligible InfoVision Awards were commercially announced or in deployment in Europe prior to the Broadband World Forum Europe 2008 (with the exception of submissions in the New Product Concepts category).
